I know some people don’t really care about year-end hoopla, but I always enjoy looking back on the year that’s ending and reflecting on my life. Here at Kalyn’s Kitchen this was really a great year, so when Nupur from One Hot Stove announced her idea to have food bloggers post about The Best of 2007, I thought it sounded like fun. Nupur left the rules very flexible, but I decided to pick one favorite recipe from each month.

It sounded easy, but when I looked through the archives, I found that there were quite a few months where I really had a hard time deciding what my favorite was! (This is what my mother would have called “a good problem to have.”) If I missed a recipe that was one of your favorites from Kalyn’s Kitchen this year, I’d love to hear from you in the comments. Be sure to visit One Hot Stove to see what other food bloggers chose as their favorite recipes of the year. It’s quite an amazing list of blogs participating, so you’re sure to find lots of good recipe ideas there.

In January I was doing phase one recipes for the month, and this Southwest Chicken Salad was really delicious and easy to make.

Simple as they come and completely delicious, I picked Roasted Asparagus with Garlic for February.

One of the many recipes from Fine Cooking Annual that rocked my world this year, the pick for March was Chicken Picatta with Fried Capers.

In April I became infatuated with mangoes after I made Mango Salsa with Red Bell Pepper.

When I discovered skinny green beans at Costco, one of the favorite recipes using them was May’s Stir-Fried Green Beans with Lemon, Parmesan, and Pine Nuts.

When the garden started producing Zucchini in June, I loved Cheesy Zucchini with Garlic and Parsley from another favorite cookbook this year, Food to Live By.

2007 was the year I fell in love with fresh tarragon, and one recipe I loved using this herb was the Sauteed Chicken Breasts with Warm Tomato-Tarragon Salsa I made in July.

Eggplant was another food I learned to love this year, and the dish that made me an eggplant lover was Spicy Grilled Eggplant with Red Pepper, Parsley, and Mint from August.

I’ve been making grilled salmon for years, but the Grilled Salmon with Sun-Dried Tomato, Olive, Caper, and Parsley Relish from Fine Cooking Magazine turned into something I cooked over and over.

Sweet potatoes were another new food for me this year, a craze that started in October with the recipe from Epicurious.com for Spicy Sweet Potato Fries.

I fell in love with a Moroccan Spice Mix from Fine Cooking Magazine, and the Roasted Butternut Squash with Moroccan Spices was my pick for November.

I found a wonderful recipe on 101 Cookbooks for Cottage Cheese Muffins and this version of Cottage Cheese and Egg Breakfast Muffins with Ham and Cheddar was something I loved in December.
