I previously wrote about how Nick, a faithful reader of my blog, had requested me to use my culinary imagination and see what I could dream up using green tomatoes. It sounded like fun, but alas, my garden simply didn't produce much in the way of tomatoes this year. I had a few small pebble size green ones, but not enough to make any kind of dish.
Then Shawnae, another faithful reader of my blog, showed up at school with a bag of green tomatoes for me from her garden. (Her three adorable children go to the school where I teach.) It's great to have friends.
I'm already imagining something like a salad with grilled zucchini and grilled green tomatoes tossed with fresh mozzarella and basil vinaigrette for dinner. Stay tuned to see what develops from this thoughtful gift.

As someone whose favorite food is fried green tomoatoes, I love finding them on a recipe site. I'm sure the ones I make that are fried, smothered in brown sugar then stacked like pancakes won't make this site, but maybe you could try a substitute to make them both sweet and sour like mine!
(And I still have hundreds in my garden if you want some, Kalyn)
