Weekend Herb Blogging: I Don't Have a Dog or a Cat, Can I Post a Photo of My Plants?

A few weeks back I told Sweetnicks that I was planning to post a picture of one of my plants, since I don't have a dog or a cat to show when all the food bloggers start doing weekend dog blogging or weekend cat blogging. I was just kidding at first, but the idea grew on me. That's what inspired me to take this picture of the basil crop I picked last weekend.

I mentioned earlier how I was going to do a better job of clearing out my garden before it snowed this year. Last fall I completely neglected that job, and I paid for it in the spring when I had a real mess to clean up before I could even think about planting any veggies. When I got out to the garden last weekend, of course I discovered I had lots of other tasks I hadn't even thought about. One of them was doing the last picking of herbs for the season. The photo you see is a bucket (yes, I did say a bucket!) of fresh basil that I am going to pulse in my food processor with a little olive oil and then freeze in little cubes. All winter I will use it for pasta sauce, soup, and chicken stuffed with goat cheese and basil. Yum.

Now, it's Saturday again, so back to do some more work in the garden.

  1. oh yes!
    thats much more food related.
If i had a crop I'd post it, but alas...
the herbs on my deck havent been fairing so well...

  2. I doubt if I have enough basil for pesto, let alone a bucketful! Color me green with envy.

  3. LOL. That's cute. I also don't have pets, so I've been trying to think of something to blog about on the weekends. :)

  4. Hey, you may have just started a movement. I don't have a LOT of herbs, but if you do something regularly, I just might join you. ;)
