Winter in Utah is Perilous to Bloggers

I'm not one of those bloggers who tell all the details of their life on the blog every day, but some days you just need to unload. This was one of those days. This is not my actual car, but it could have been. Yesterday afternoon there was quite a snowstorm when I was driving home from school. Last night I had to go outside and shovel the snow for the first time this season. If you're reading this from a warm climate, shoveling snow is not one of the things I like about living in Utah.

When I went to bed they predicted a cold morning. I got up early, like I always do, to post something on the blog before I went to work. I write at night, save the drafts, and then post in the morning, a system that works well for me. Today I was in the middle of checking for typos, something I try to do every morning, when the power went off. It stayed off for about 40 minutes, but when it finally came back on I couldn't get my cable internet connection back.

Ok, I was already quite mad, cold, and close to being late for school (not a happy thought when there are 26 kids bouncing up and down wondering if they are having a substitute), and then I had to go out and scrape off the car. This was not the best day of the year to have me for a teacher!

The post for today was going to be my latest attempt at cooking one of Mark Bittman's Recipes from The Best Rcipes in the World, but it's so late now that I think I will save that for tomorrow. Check back.

Meanwhile, here's a report on my new Utah blog buddy. Congrats to Sweetnicks, Mae, Ilva, Cookiecrumb, Lisa, and Kitchenmage who discovered us both and left comments on my blog. If you didn't manage to find us both, or if you're just hearing about this now, my Utah blog friend is Vanessa from She Craves. Here's a link to her version of our combined effort at a post letting the world know that we are joining forces to take over the food scene in Utah.

Now if we could just do something about the weather.

Is this a good time to tell you it was 70 degrees at my house today? Come visit.

I hear you, Kalyn. I can't quite describe the agony of wearing office heels and scraping ice off of the car and onto black slush. Even the cat won't go outside.

Maybe if we make enough of a stink, the weather will let up. Blog power?

More power to you and Vanessa! ;-)

I've liked the few Mark Bittman recipes that I've tried so far. And I enjoy watching his show. I look forward to your Bittman post.

Have a good day!

Paz

I can relate to all the bad weather. We're in the Chicago area and are in the middle of a porch remodeling/front of the house addition and weather keeps slowing things down. It seems the contractors would rather be working in Arizona instead of the Midwest. Sort of hard to focus on holiday cookies and all that fun stuff when there's construction dust around. We're hoping to get our Christmas tree up this weekend, but it will depend on how fast they repair a wall -- and we get it painted. Never a dull moment.
