Food Blog Finds: Finding More Low-Glycemic Recipes on Other Food Blogs

I'm going to start sharing some Food Blog Finds with you once a week or so on Kalyn's Kitchen. These are some of the great-sounding lower carb recipes I've seen on other food blogs recently.

At Recipes for a Gluten Free Goddess, Karina cooked up a roasted vegetable frittata that caught my eye. With broccoli, cauliflower, sweet potatoes, onions, eggs, and cheese, this sounded wonderful.

Over at Simply Recipes, Elise made Meatballs with Green Peppercorn Sauce. I would replace the white bread with 100% whole wheat and this would be a great recipe for phase two.

At What Did You Eat, Sher featured Poached Halibut with Lemon and Thyme that looked like it would be delightfully healthy for any kind of diet. The halibut was poached in broth flavored with garlic, thyme, lemon and peppercorns.

Pille of Nami-Nami cooked up A Jolly Good Salad that I thought sounded wonderful. It had arugula, spring onions, goat cheese, pine nuts, and bacon and a lemony/olive oil dressing.

It was truly A Delicious Life when Sarah cooked up Shrimp in Spicy Tomato Sauce. Lovely shrimp were complimented by a sauce with tomatoes, onions, garlic, red pepper, basil, and oregano.

Beth of Zen Foodism is cooking Lamb Stew with Artichokes and Baby Carrots, and I think it sounds fabulous. Not only does this contain cilantro, my very favorite herb, but Beth is taking cooking classes to learn how to spice it up perfectly.

Over at Lex Culinaria, Lyn is making Spicy Creole Sausage. With ground pork, ground beef, and lots of spices, this sounds fantastic.

Joe from Culinary in the Desert uses Barilla Plus, a new multigrain, higher protein pasta for his Macaroni Salad with Gorgonzola. I might use a little less apple in this to keep the carbs a little lower, but I thought the combination sounded great.

Bean and Lacinato Kale Soup from A Veggie Venture was another dish that really caught my eye. Alanna says she would use less beans next time, and to make the carbs a bit lower, I might even cut the beans in half. But beans are considered a "good" carb on the South Beach Diet, and this looks like a great way to eat them. Last, but not least, Christine Cooks had a recipe that looked like something I'd like to try, although I might substitute low sugar orange marmalade for the orange-pineapple juice concentrate. Oven Roasted Prawns and Asparagus sounds to me like it would taste just delicious.
