Signs of Spring - Forsythia Buds

The forsythia bushes by my porch are getting quite a few buds, so I know soon they'll have lovely yellow flowers. Some of my neighbors south-facing bushes have flowers already. All this makes me feel very happy because before long I'll be able to start planting things in the garden and nurturing the perennial herbs, a few of which are already perking up. Stay tuned.

More to Chew On:

  1. Ohh I was just noticing them today, most of our neighbors are in full bloom, so beautiful! Spring has sprung!!!

  2. I just forced a bunch of these in a vase last week, and they completely brighten up the house. It's impossible to be depressed when you've got bright sunny flowers blooming in the house.

  3. Forsythia - my favorite early spring bush...unfortunately we won't be seeing them around here for probably another month.

So thanks for the glimmer of hope - the light just around the corner - winter gone at last!

  4. Kalyn,

It has been raining here all day. This is a lovely photo that reminds me that yes ... spring is in the air.

    Thank you!

  5. Very jelous. It's the opposite down here

  6. Why does the first few signs of Spring excite me so? This post got me all giddy! I started by herb garden yesterday - I definitely have spring on my mind!

  7. Hi Kalyn, i'm so getting behind with this WHB. Yesterday, i planted some seedlings of bak choi, Mizuna, coriander, basil and chives. With any hope and maybe a bit of luck too, they should start to come up in two to three weeks. By then i should have something to write about.

We're having a lovely weather today and yesterday too. Spring is definitely on it's way. I harvested some daffodils from the garden yesterday too.

  8. Oh, i forgot to say, this photo is absolutely beautiful.

  9. Sounds like I am not the only one who is excited about spring. Mae,I don't know what mizuna is, can't wait to find out.

  10. Kalyn, neither do i! lol. You and me both...
