Strawberries Romanoff is one of my memories from working at Le Parisien Restaurant in Salt Lake City, and I’ve loved this recipe for years! I make this for an amazing and ridiculously easy dessert whenever fresh strawberries are in season!

Strawberries Romanoff is a favorite dessert I can’t stop thinking about when ripe juicy strawberries show up at the grocery store! This is an ultra easy recipe that I learned to make when I worked at a long-gone French restaurant in Salt Lake called Le Parisien. The restaurant closed in 2001, but I have great memories of working there while I was in collage, and Strawberries Romanoff was one of their signature desserts.

Le Parisien served the strawberries with small bowls of sour cream and brown sugar, and to eat it you’d dip a strawberry into the sour cream and then into the brown sugar. But I developed a preference for whisking brown sugar and sour cream together and mixing it with the cut strawberries! And this perfect easy dessert with only three ingredients is something I’ve made many times for guests, and it’s always a hit.

Now that I’m not eating much sugar, I make this with sour cream and Golden Monkfruit Sweetener which still gives it amazing brown sugar flavor! And if you’re looking for an easy dessert for Easter, this is as easy as it gets. I hope you make some Strawberries Romanoff soon, while ripe juicy strawberries are so good!

Can you use a different sweetener for the Strawberries Romanoff?

At the restaurant the Strawberries Romanoff was made with brown sugar, and you can use that if you don’t care about the carbs. But if you’re going to make it with sweetener, I think the Lakanto Golden Monkfruit Sweetener (affiliate link) that I use gives the closest to real brown sugar flavor. But if you don’t want to buy a sweetener just for this recipe, I’m guessing any type of granulated sweetener you like the flavor of will taste good in this.

Can you use other berries in this recipe?

At the restaurant they always used strawberries for this dessert that was so popular with customers. But you could try making this with other berries like raspberries or blackberries, I bet that would also be delicious!

How low in carbs is my version of Strawberries Romanoff?

If you use the Golden Monkfruit Sweetener I recommend, this recipe has only about 9 net carbs per serving. And it’s also naturally gluten-free as long as you use a gluten-free sweetener.

Low-Carb Diet / Low-Glycemic Diet / South Beach Diet Suggestions:
This easy Strawberries Romanoff is surprisingly not that high in net carbs when it’s made with Monkfruit sweetener. This is great as a treat for low-carb diets, although maybe not for strict Keto. This recipe would be Phase two or three for the original South Beach diet.
