Weekend Herb Blogging Is On the Road!

I'm currently out of the country traveling in Turkey and Kenya, so replies to comments may be delayed until I return home. If you'd like to see my pictures from the trip, you can do that by following me on Instagram or Twitter.

Just a friendly reminder that this week Weekend Herb Blogging is being hosted by fabulous photographer and cook Ilva from Lucullian Delights. Ilva will post the recap on Monday (in Italy) which means if you want to join in the herb blogging fun this weekend, you need to send her your contribution by Sunday afternoon in the U.S. (Send your links to i_beretta AT yahoo DOT it). Also be sure to link to Ilva in your post with the words Weekend Herb Blogging so people can find the recap on Monday (http://lucullian DOT blogspot DOT com). Then don't forget to go back on Monday to see the interesting things people have sent. I've already noticed a couple of things posted on other blogs, and I'm glad people seem to like the idea of letting WHB travel around the globe.

Around here, we're winding up the school year, always a happy time for students but a stressful time for teachers, with lots of extra work to wrap things up. Only four more school days after today, and believe me, we are counting! Today my fourth grade students are putting on a huge program for parents, complete with songs, dances, speaking parts, and drama. Since I've been otherwise occupied, I haven't done much cooking this week, except for the wonderful Sauteed Asparagus with Melted Gorgonzola and Pine Nuts I posted yesterday. But I'll be posting my own Weekend Herb Blogging recipe tomorrow, featuring the herb you see here, one of the first things that comes back each year in my garden. (More channeling going on, since I noticed that Ilva also posted about mint this week.) Tune in tomorrow to see some great ideas for using this prolific herb.

Last week I joined a lot of other food bloggers in posting a plea to save the internet. I'm happy to report some great news yesterday for those who are following the debate in the U.S. Congress on Net Neutrality.
A bipartisan majority of the House Judiciary Committee passed the “Internet Freedom and Nondiscrimination Act of 2006″ by a vote of 20 - 13. Blogher's Laura Scott reported on this in a great post on the coalition that has evolved around the issue of Net Neutrality. Check out her post to see the Ninja video on Net Neutrality produced by Askaninja.com.

Next weekend I'll be hosting Weekend Herb Blogging again, and then on the weekend of June 11, our next guest host will be the lovely Cate at Sweetnicks. Hope everyone is getting ready to have a nice holiday weekend if you're in the U.S.

I'm so happy you're taking the time to comment on Kalyn's Kitchen! I love hearing from people who stop by, especially if you're sharing feedback or asking questions about a recipe I've posted here.

I've recently changed my comment settings so people can comment without signing in, but you will need to check the box to show you're a live person, and comments on older posts won't show up until I publish them. Thanks for understanding!
