Recipe for Broccoli and Radish Salad with Gorgonzola

This week I decided to blog about the humble radish, a veggie that I admit I didn't have too much fondness of until recently. It wasn't that I hated it, but I didn't really like it that much either. That was before I made Crunchy Chopped Salad with Gorgonzola and Radishes and discovered the marriage of radishes and Gorgonzola cheese, truly a wonderful flavor team. That recipe inspired this one, which was partly the result of one of those big bags of broccoli from Costco!

There are many sizes and varieties of radishes, many of which are more common in Asia than in the west. Radishes are actually quite nutritious, being a good source of Vitamin C and many minerals. Radishes are easy to grow yourself, and actually are quite famous for being one of the first seeds to sprout in the garden. If you like radishes at all, I suggest you get some and make this salad!

Broccoli and Radish Salad with Gorgonzola
(original recipe from Kalyn, 4 servings)

6 cups broccoli flowerets, cut into bite sized pieces
2 cups radishes, trimmed and cut into fourths lengthwise
1/4 cup Blue Cheese salad dressing (use more or less to taste)
1/4 cup crumbled Gorgonzola cheese
salt, fresh ground pepper to taste

In large bowl combine broccoli and radishes. Toss with blue cheese dressing, add Gorgonzola, and toss again. Season with salt and pepper. Serve immediately.

  1. So far, radishes are the 'it' vegetable for me this summer! Glad you found a way to enjoy them. I redid Beyond Salmon's radish spread this week, just 8 oz grated radish w 5 oz neufchatel and a couple of chopped green onions. Gorgeous!!

  2. I went and invested in ANOTHER TUB of gorgonzola from Costco.....btw the site is looking terrific - boys are doing a great job.

  3. Alanna, it's funny. I think I may have even left a comment somewhere saying I'm not that hot on radishes, and now I'm thinking of putting them in everything. Love the sound of the radish spread!

Doodles, since you confessed, I will too. I also got another huge tub of Gorgonzola. Now I'm wondering how I ever cooked without having it on hand. Thanks for compliment on the site; aren't Rand and Bradley just so talented? I have no idea how to do most of this myself.

  4. A very nice and colored salad. This is a good idea to use raw broccoli as its taste is fresher. I note your contribution. Have a good holiday and till next monday (french hour).

  5. My father loved radishes. We used to give him ours off our plates. Although he passed away more than 10 years ago, he's still with me in spirit.

    Thanks for the memory.
