It's Independence Day in the U.S. and all over America people are indulging in their individual way of celebrating, acknowledging the freedoms we have in the United States. Our country isn't perfect, and lots and lots of Americans, including myself, have serious concerns about things our government is doing. But the ideals of equal opportunity, freedom, justice, and equality that this country was founded on are great. Let's acknowledge and celebrate those today.
I'm taking a day off from cooking, so no recipe today for my usual Tuesday project, Sweetnicks ARF/5-A-Day event, where she encourages us to eat healthy food. But if you're surfing around looking for something healthy, go to the google box in the right sidebar, be sure you have selected "Kalyn's Kitchen" and type in ARF/5-A-Day and you'll see all the healthy recipes I've posted in the past for this event. You're sure to find something delicious.
You could also find something yummy by poking around a little in my recipe archives. Check out the huge collection of recipes for salads, plenty of options for grilled chicken, or maybe some fish on the grill.
Maybe you'd like to make some red, white and blue food for the holiday. Even though she's British, Sam of Becks and Posh is showing you how!
Not only is it Independence Day, but it's a special day in the household of my very good friend Mary. She'll be celebrating double birthdays for her father and husband with a big party at her house. I'll be there, taking photos, supervising kids, and probably eating a lot of un-South Beach food.
One last announcement. You can now get to my site by simply typing kalynskitchen.com into your browser. How cool is that! Thanks (again) to Rand and Bradley for making that happen for me. It should make it easier for people to remember.
Happy Fourth of July, and Happy Birthday to Nick and Ken. Be back tomorrow.
