Friday Food Porn: Food Memories and Making More Food Memories

It's time for Friday Food Porn, where I entice you with food that I may or may not have eaten, and this week I'm focusing on Food Memories. These are all food photos I've taken that have some kind of recent memory associated with them.

This weekend I'll be making a few more food-related memories, since I'm going for a short jaunt to visit one of my favorite food blog friends. Check out St. Louis Kitchens and Nearby Kitchens in her sidebar to see some of the other people that I'll hopefully be getting to meet. More to come later about what I'm going to be doing there.

Tofu and Veggies with Peanut Sauce from Thai Siam. This was a part of a great meal I shared with Rand, Bradley, my dad, and my stepmother last time Rand and Bradley were in town.

A breakfast casserole from the PTA breakfast the first week back at school. I was none too happy to be there, not that I hate teaching, but the re-entry process is always painful. Having some good food made it a little better. This was not very South Beach Diet approved, but I was in need of comfort so I ate it anyway.

Sticky rice with mango from Thai Siam, absolutely fantastic. If you've never tried this traditional Thai dessert, you must try it. Again, not exactly South Beach Diet food, but I hadn't had this for more than two years, and we were sharing it with a whole table of people so I enjoyed a few bites. Interestingly, just yesterday I saw a recipe for this that sounded good on one of the blogs I recommended for Blog Day.

This is the salad I made for a Fourth of July party celebrating the birthdays of Nick Rhodes and Ken Dillon. By the time I realized I had the photo saved, I had forgotten the exact recipe, but I know it had hearts of palm, cucumbers, several types of olives, diced roasted red pepper, and feta cheese. Food styling was by my friend Al, who added the rosemary sprigs.

  4. Erin, it's sooo not SB approved, but so good.

Jennifer, I'm very excited to meet her.

Alanna, no worries. On vacation I pretty much eat everything in sight. You're right, we'll have fun talking about all the other bloggers.

Thanks for joining the conversation! I love hearing from readers and even though I can't always reply to every comment, I will always answer specific questions on a recipe as soon as possible. Sometimes I'm answering by iPhone, so my replies may be short!

Comments don't appear on the blog until they're approved by me, so no need to try again if you don't see it! Feel free make your signature a link to your site if you're a blogger, but links posted within the body of the comment will never be published.
