Grilling Ideas for the Fourth of July

Grilling is such an equal-opportunity cooking method. No matter what your favorite foods are, just about everything tastes better when it's cooked on a grill. I've been grilling for years, and I really came to love cooking on a grill when I catered houseboat trips for over ten years at Utah's Lake Powell. Nothing was better on the houseboat than something cooked on the grill.

In the U.S., the summer holidays of Memorial Day, Labor Day, and the Fourth of July often are times when people will be cooking outside on the grill. If you're cooking for small kids, you could please them with burgers and hot dogs. But if you're looking for grilling ideas to cook something a little special for this year's Fourth of July celebration, here some of my favorites.   10. After the WHB roundup I'm really impressed that you came up with such a bevy of great suggestions! I won't be able to use them until after the 4th since I am trying a recipe to replicate the famous "black meat" better known as "Fred Steak" from Schaub'sin Palo Alto! I'll let everyone know how it turns out!

  11. I've been out all day and came home to all these nice comments. My condolences to everyone who doesn't have a grill, but get one of those nice stove-top grill pans with ridges and you can make any of these recipes. (I actually got one for $12.99 at Sears of all places!)

    Lisa, I went to Lake Powell all summer long for more than ten years, so even though I never made much money, it was THE BEST!

  14. Anonymous, good camera equipment, a great place to take photos that has good light, and may years of practice. In short, it's not something you can learn quickly and I've been working on my photos since 2006.
