I love to use some kind of steak rub when I’m making grilled meat, but sometimes the steak seasonings you buy have added sugar, and I don’t want that. So this post has my recipe for Sugar-Free Montreal Steak Seasoning that’s easy to make and uses common ingredients you might have on hand.

I experimented with a few different versions of Montreal Steak Seasoning that I found online to come up with a combination I really liked. And of course this steak rub recipe is also great to add to a marinade for beef, and the photo above shows a steak that was marinated with Carol’s Easy Steak Marinade where I used this tasty steak seasoning recipe.

And this easy-to-make Montreal Steak Seasoning Recipe is also something I’ve made for a spice blend to give away for a holiday gift, and everyone will love getting a small jar of this instead of sweets during the holidays. Check out the NOTES section in the complete recipe to see amounts for making enough of this steak seasoning to give away!

What if you prefer to just buy a steak rub?

No judgement from me at all if you just prefer to buy steak rub instead of making your own. The one I love is Szeged Steak Rub (affiliate link), made by the same company that makes my favorite fish rub.
