A Menu for Hope Starts Today and Here's the Prize I'm Offering

Menu for HopeFor several years now I've been proud to participate in A Menu for Hope, the annual fund-raiser sponsored by Chez Pim where food bloggers all over the world unite to raise money for a good cause. Last year Menu for Hope raised $91,188.00, and even though the economy is troubled this year, we know people will be as generous as they can. Once again, donations will raise money for the UN World Food Program, targeted to a school food program in Lesotho.

For the past two years I've donated a Photo Studio in a Box for Menu for Hope, and it's been a popular prize. I'm still using the "box" part of my set, but after Jaden from Steamy Kitchen posted about the Lowel EGO Photo Lights, I bought two Lowel 27 Watt Replacement Bulbs and two inexpensive desk lamps and now I'm using those with my box filtering the light as a light source when I don't have enough natural light. Since I know there are so many food bloggers who'd love to have the full set of Lowel EGO Lights, I thought that would be a fantastic prize for this year's Menu for Hope.

Prize Code UW10
Prize donated by Kalyn's Kitchen

Here is a description of the Lowel Ego Two Light Set from Amazon.com, where I'll be ordering it for the winner. Due to the cost of this item (and my limited budget!) I've decided I'll need to restrict shipping to the continental U.S. for this prize.

I'd also like to put in a plug for another fantastic prize, a free pass to attend BlogHer '09, donated by the founders of BlogHer again this year. Read more about this prize at BlogHer.com. Prize code for the BlogHer Conference pass is UW09, and the BlogHer conference is open to men and women.

Here's how to participate in A Menu for Hope:
1. Starting December 15 you'll see prize announcements appearing on food blogs everywhere, with lists of prizes at the blogs of the regional hosts (listed below) and the full list of prizes at Chez Pim. Have fun visiting your favorite food blogs and choosing a prize.

2. Once you've picked your prize, go to the donation site at First Giving and make a donation. (That link will be active starting at 9:00 A.M. Pacific Time on December 15.)

3. Please specify which prize you'd like in the 'Personal Message' section in the donation form. You must write in how many tickets per prize, and use the prize code. (Each $10 you donate will buy one raffle ticket toward any prize. You must write-in how many tickets per prize, and please use the prize code. For example, a donation of $50 can be 2 tickets for EU01 and 3 tickets for UW09. Please write 2xEU01, 3xUW09.)

4. If your company matches your charity donation, please check the box and fill in the information so we could claim the corporate match.

5. Please check the box to allow us to see your email address so that we could contact you in case you win.Your email address will not be shared with anyone.

  1. Ooooo I've had our prize on my Amazon list for a really long time. I want to look at the other prizes but I have a feeling I'll come back to this one.

  3. What a cool prize! It's great to see bloggers who have participated in Menu for Hope for years. How did you first get involved with the fundraiser? I'm working on a blog posting that will compile the thoughts of various Menu for Hope participants! Please email any comments to blog[at]friendsofwfp.org.

Thanks for your input, and for supporting the World Food Program!

Thanks for joining the conversation! I love hearing from readers and even though I can't always reply to every comment, I will always answer specific questions on a recipe as soon as possible. Sometimes I'm answering by iPhone, so my replies may be short!

Comments don't appear on the blog until they're approved by me, so no need to try again if you don't see it! Feel free make your signature a link to your site if you're a blogger, but links posted within the body of the comment will never be published.
