A Menu for Hope Starts Today and Here's the Prize I'm Offering

Menu for HopeFor several years now I've been proud to participate in A Menu for Hope, the annual fund-raiser sponsored by Chez Pim where food bloggers all over the world unite to raise money for a good cause. Last year Menu for Hope raised $91,188.00, and even though the economy is troubled this year, we know people will be as generous as they can. Once again, donations will raise money for the UN World Food Program, targeted to a school food program in Lesotho.

For the past two years I've donated a Photo Studio in a Box for Menu for Hope, and it's been a popular prize. I'm still using the "box" part of my set, but after Jaden from Steamy Kitchen posted about the Lowel EGO Photo Lights, I bought two Lowel 27 Watt Replacement Bulbs and two inexpensive desk lamps and now I'm using those with my box filtering the light as a light source when I don't have enough natural light. Since I know there are so many food bloggers who'd love to have the full set of Lowel EGO Lights, I thought that would be a fantastic prize for this year's Menu for Hope.

Here is a description of the Lowel Ego Two Light Set from, where I'll be ordering it for the winner. Due to the cost of this item (and my limited budget!) I've decided I'll need to restrict shipping to the continental U.S. for this prize.

I'd also like to put in a plug for another fantastic prize, a free pass to attend BlogHer '09, donated by the founders of BlogHer again this year. Read more about this prize at Prize code for the BlogHer Conference pass is UW09, and the BlogHer conference is open to men and women.

Here's how to participate in A Menu for Hope:

  1. Ooooo I've had our prize on my Amazon list for a really long time. I want to look at the other prizes but I have a feeling I'll come back to this one.

  2. This is just what I need at my little house on the prairie, which is actually surrounded by lots and lots of trees -- give me light. I want this prize!

  3. What a cool prize! It's great to see bloggers who have participated in Menu for Hope for years. How did you first get involved with the fundraiser? I'm working on a blog posting that will compile the thoughts of various Menu for Hope participants! Please email any comments to blog[at]
