You might remember when I first discovered Agave Nectar, a delicious and low-glycemic natural sweetener that's South Beach Diet friendly, and safe for diabetics too. I've been using the light and amber varieties of agave ever since, but recently my friend Georgette introduced me to flavored agave nectar, a new product she discovered at her grocery store. Georgette gave me the Hazelnut Agave above as part of my Christmas present, and I absolutely love it! (Thanks Georgette!) I see by checking the Madhava site that they now make agave in Vanilla, Irish Cream, Amaretto, and Cappuccino flavors as well.
Flavored Agave is such a wonderful idea that I'm adding it to my list of Kalyn's Kitchen Picks, the blog feature where I spotlight foods, kitchen products, and pantry items that really wow me. I've been busy thinking up ideas for the Hazelnut Agave, and tonight I used it to make a great dessert (perfect for Valentine's day) that I'll be sharing this week. After I've written that post, I'll come back and add the link here so people can find it, as well as other ideas I come up with for the other flavored agave varieties. Meanwhile, if anyone has good ideas for using any of the varieties of agave nectar, please let us know about it in the comments.
