Friday Night Photos: House Renovations v. 2.0.9 (Walls, Roof Trusses, and a Hint of the Deck!)

It's been two weeks since the last update on house renovations, and even these photos don't quite show all the progress. My neighbor Brooke keeps telling me to jump ahead and show what's happening now, but I'm resisting because I want to create a record for myself of how this all took shape. It is exciting to finally be able to show walls! This corner is where I'll be taking food photos sometime, hopefully soon!

This is the view from the back, showing the other two big windows that I hope will give lots of light. There's also proof that I'm not covering up all my lawn, although there'll be an eight-foot deck across this back part of the house so a bit of this grass will be covered.

Here you see roof trusses just starting to be laid on the walls, and it doesn't look much like a roof at this point.

A day or so later I took this early morning photo where more of a roof is starting to appear. The door in the middle here matches up with a sidewalk that leads to my garden.

After work that day Ben shows off more progress, with most of the roof framed and the addition starting to look a lot more like part of the house.

Finally, the posts holding this part of the roof will be along the west edge of the covered part of the deck, which will be the same level as the house. (Thanks to my stepbrother Fletcher for the latest idea for a gas line to this deck, so I can run my barbecue on natural gas and never again have to buy propane cylinders!)

(If anyone is interested, you can see my whole set of House Renovations Photos on Flickr or use the label House Ronovations to see all the posts.)

Oh my goodness Kalyn, the excitement builds again! It's going to happen. Things will slow down when the inside work starts. Won't it be grand not to lug those gas jars back and forth!!!

This is sure looking wonderful, Kalyn. I knew you'd be very excited once the walls went up. BTW - I really like your new profile photo! Woo-hoo!

Good idea for the gas line. We have some friends who did that and love it. We have a propane tank for our whole house, and it's not set up for individual lines like that, so we still deal with 5 gallon propane tanks.

Thanks everybody. I don't say it often enough, but I realize I am truly lucky and blessed to be able to do this during these economic hard times. I'm so grateful it's all working out (even though a bit scared about the cost, I have faith it will work out okay!)

Oh wow, Kalyn. The room is really taking shape. And you do still have a lawn/yard too. How exciting.
