I do appreciate my loyal readers not complaining about the endless house renovation photos, but I’ve been through the process of remodeling a house once and lamented the lack of photos when I was done, so I don’t want to make that mistake again. Last week I showed preparations for sheetrock, and now we have sheetrock, which may make for pretty boring photos but quite exciting nevertheless! Above is the intial sheetrocking of where my desk will be.

Here’s a slightly wider view of where the desk will be a few days later, with the cracks taped and plastered. (Not sure exactly what that plaster stuff is called?)

Now that the sheetrock is up, you can definitely tell this corner of the office space is going to have a closet. (I’m designing the space so it could be a bedroom if I ever stop using it for an office/studio.)

This side of the office is going to have floor-ceiling shelves for cookbooks, covering all this wall and going under the window. I might try growing herbs under that south-facing window in the winter too.

Not sure if this is a good decision for the office, but eventually there will be a television in this corner, so we needed a cable box and electrical outlet here for that.

Peeking down the hall towards my kitchen, now you can see where the double pantries will be on either side of the doorway leading to the laundry room.

Finally, this is the nice sunny corner where hopefully I’ll be taking food photos before too long. There’ll be a high photo platform that wraps around the corner under the windows on both walls. I’m going to have Hunter-Douglas blinds that can lower from the top or raise from the bottom. (I have these in all the rest of my house and love them!) I’ve been worrying a little about whether I should have made the windows bigger, but winter heat bills were a factor in the decision, and hopefully it will be fine.
