South Beach Diet Phase One Recipes Round-Up for July 2009 (Low-Glycemic Recipes)

Tuscan Baked EggsKalyn's favorite phase one recipe from July 2009 is Tuscan Baked Eggs
with Tomatoes, Red Onions, Garlic, Parmesan, and Herbs

It seems like each time I write another monthly round-up of South Beach Diet phase one recipes, I wonder how a month has gone by so quickly! Not sure how it got to be August, but happily I'm free of that "there are only a few weeks left" school teacher panic. This month I've been fairly distracted from reading other blogs, so if you're a blogger who posted a recipe that you think would be phase one friendly, check after the recipe links to see how to submit it.

Did I Miss Your Phase One Recipe?
Phase one menus for the South Beach Diet focus on lean meats, seafood, eggs, dried beans, soy products, low-fat dairy products, nuts and seeds, and most vegetables. Phase one doesn't permit fruit, alcohol, bread, rice, pasta, potatoes, sugar, or any foods high in saturated fat. Obviously I miss lots of phase one recipes, so if you're a food blogger who posted a recipe this month that you think would be approved for phase one, please feel free to e-mail me the link at kalynskitchen (at) comcast (dot) net. I'll take a look, and if the recipe is phase-one friendly, I'll add it to next months roundup. (Please don't leave recipe links in the comments. They will not be published.)

  17. Thank you so much for all your work! It has made it so much easier to stick to the SB plan. I was wondering if you had any phase one dessert suggestions?

  18. Anonymous if you look under Low Sugar Desserts and Fruit in the recipe archives (left side, top) there is one jelled ricotta dessert recipe I got from a reader. My favorite phase one treat is "no sugar added" Fudgesickes (I like Popsicle brand best.) I just got a recipe from a reader for making a frozen treat with those, but haven't tried it yet.
