Friday Night Photos: Caputo's By Night in Downtown Salt Lake City

Tony Caputo's Market and DeliOne of my favorite places to buy specialty ingredients in Salt Lake City is Tony Caputo's Market and Deli, so when I heard Caputo's was going to start serving dinner, I was excited to try it. My friend Robin and I both give two big thumbs up to the food at Caputos, and for a restaurant that's located in the heart of downtown Salt Lake, it was surprisingly inexpensive. Here's a little taste of our dinner at Caputos by Night.

Caprese Salad with Roasted Tomatoes and Basil was a wonderful start to the meal.

We also loved the roasted olives, with a touch of rosemary.

I should have taken notes because I don't remember the name of this halibut dish but it was delicious with the roasted tomatoes on top.

All the entrees came with a side of pasta. I'm not really a pasta eater, but I did ask for a tiny taste of the Mushroom Tortellini, and they were wonderful.

Robin ordered Prime Rib with a side of Lasagna, and she ended up eating the prime rib and taking all the lasagna home for another meal.

Blogger Disclosure:
Matt Caputo invited me to dinner at Caputos and paid for my meal.
I don't really write restaurant "reviews" but once in a while I talk about restaurants in Salt Lake and Restaurants in other cities where I've had great meals, but only if it's a meal I would have happily paid for myself.

  3. We have Joe Caputo's grocery stores in the Chicago suburbs. I wonder if there's a connection? Yours looks more upscale.

  4. Heather, I did go to The Tin Angel once, long time ago.

Christine, the food was great, and very inexpensive for the quality.

ValerieAnne, I don't think they are related. Tony Caputo has had this Market/Deli in Salt Lake for many, many years.

  11. Dara, the portions were enormous. If I'd just gotten the full serving of pasta, it would have been two meals for me too.

Year on the Grill, I love this store, and now I love the restaurant too.

Charlotte, good luck with the bread!

Jessica, you can choose any pasta you want for a side, Robin just happened to choose lasagna.

Sharon, I think I would order that mozzarella with roasted tomatoes every time I went there!

Krysta, looking forward to that new store, pretty close to where I live!

  12. I also LOVED my meal there- especially the spicy marinara sauce and the mushroom filled ravioli! I think this is just what Salt Lake was missing, a casual Italian Restaurant offering all of the classics!

Glad you also enjoyed it! And thanks for the link.
