Friday Favorites: Thanksgiving Recipe Favorites in time for Canadian Thanksgiving

Low-Sugar Pumkin Cheesecake PieEvery year in November there's a lot of hoopla on this blog about Low-Glycemic Thanksgiving Recipes, and for the past four years I've had fun testing new dishes that might be South Beach Diet friendly options for Thanksgiving. I'll be doing that again this year in November, but it occurred to me that my suggestions are always too late for my friends in Canada, since Canadian Thanksgiving is celebrated on the second Monday in October. That means my Canadian readers will be celebrating (and having a day off from work) this coming Monday, so I thought I'd wish them "Happy Thanksgiving" by spotlighting a few Thanksgiving recipe suggestions that were my favorites last year.

Of course, if you're in the U.S., it's not too early to start planning your own Thanksgiving dinner. You might want to experiment with a few of these recipes before then, just to see which you like best! Let's start with the Low-Sugar Pumpkin Cheesecake Pie I made last year, which is halfway between pumpkin pie and pumpkin cheesecake.

Stuffing is one of my favorite parts of Thanksgiving, and I loved this Wild Rice with Sausage and Mushrooms as a stuffing idea. You could add some 100% whole wheat bread to it if you wanted a more traditional stuffing.

I love butternut squash just about any way you cook it, but this recipe for Roasted Butternut Squash with Rosemary, Pecans, and Gorgonzola Cheese is probably at the top of my list for butternut squash recipes.

I didn't like sweet potatoes until a few years ago when I realized they didn't have to be cooked with brown sugar and marshmallows, and these Soy-Glazed Sweet Potatoes with Sesame Seeds were a dish that really wowed me last year.

Finally, brussels sprouts are a vegetable that don't get much respect from some people, but I say those people have never tried roasted brussels sprouts. This recipe for Roasted Brussels Sprouts with Pecans and Gorgonzola Cheese is so good I think it would convert just about anyone to the idea of eating brussels sprouts!

I had my first ever pumpkin muffin at Dunkin Donuts a week back...and I so so fell in love with the spicy flavors.It was yum..
Really like your cross between pumpkin pie and pumpkin cheesecake.It looks so appetizing with that yellow color!kudos for such do-able recipes!

When I was younger, I always disliked brussel sprouts.. the bitter taste and the bland flavor from being boiled and drenched in butter. But roasted brussel sprouts is another story... I absolutely love the taste of roasted brussel sprouts. mmmmmMMMm
