Okay, it's now officially less than a week until Thanksgiving. I bet I'm not the only one who hasn't completely decided what they'll be cooking that day, right? I've been narrowing it down by sharing some of my favorite Carb Conscious Thanksgiving Recipes, starting with Five Thanksgiving Favorites and Favorite Green Vegetables for Thanksgiving, and this week I'm picking five more favorite Thanksgiving side dishes, starting with the Whole Wheat and Mushroom Stuffing above that I've made many times since I first posted it.
This year I'll be going to Dave and Amy's house for Thanksgiving (with my brother Rand, who does all the wonderful headers and graphics on the blog.) I'll take 2 or 3 side dishes, and for sure I'm making Whole Wheat Stuffing "Muffins" with Sausage and Parmesan and Low-Sugar Pumpkin Cheesecake Pie. Over the weekend I'll make my other choices and make a shopping list, and then it's time to start testing recipes for leftover turkey!

This is a very old photo, but even though the photo isn't the greatest, I loved this recipe for Whole Wheat Stuffing with Sage, Italian Sausage and Pears, which was the first South Beach Diet friendly stuffing recipe I shared on the blog.
When I was a kid "Onions with Cheese Sauce" were always on the menu for Thanksgiving, so last year I came up with this Onion Gratin with Rosemary and Thyme that brought back those memories. (Thanks to Serious Eats, who recently featured this recipe in a post about Thanksgiving Sides: Gratins.
Of course it wouldn't be Thanksgiving for some people without sweet potatoes! Many people favor the orange-fleshed variety for holiday meals, but my friend Bonnie loves this recipe for Roasted Sweet Potatoes with Red Onion, Rosemary, and Parmesan that's made with white sweet potatoes.
