I'm currently out of the country traveling in Turkey and Kenya, so replies to comments may be delayed until I return home. If you'd like to see my pictures from the trip, you can do that by following me on Instagram or Twitter.

A Year of drool-worthy recipes from Slow Cooker from Scratch, and many are South Beach Diet Friendly!

A year ago I started my second blog, Slow Cooker from Scratch, and what a year of slow cooker deliciousness it's been!  I was a pretty committed slow cooker user even before I started this new site, but this blog spotlighting slow cooker recipes that use from-scratch ingredients has really opened my eyes to the variety of things that can be made in the slow cooker.  Slow Cooker from Scratch is what's called a "curated" blog, which means I don't cook and photograph all the recipes myself, but they are carefully selected by me.  And since I'm focused on recipes that are South Beach Diet friendly, it's no surprise that many of the recipes I'm choosing to highlight on the new blog are things that might appeal to readers from Kalyn's Kitchen.

Slow Cooker from Scratch uses categories to help you find recipes to try, so whether you want Gluten-Free, Vegan, South Beach Diet Phase One, Dairy Free, or Weight Watcher's Points, there's a little something for everyone.  You can also choose by ingredient or by recipe type such as Breakfast, Side Dishes, Freezer Friendly, or even Dessert.  My posts will give you a photo of the dish and my comments about why I think the recipe sounds good, and then you'll need to click to the original blog to get the recipe.  I also encourage people to Please Rate the Recipes after they try them, so you can get an idea of what others have liked.

In honor of the birthday celebration I decided to spotlight ten South Beach Diet friendly slow cooker recipes from other blogs that are a sampling of things you'll find on Slow Cooker from Scratch; enjoy!

Slow Cooker Tex Mex Pot Roast from The Perfect Pantry sounds delicious and is diet-friendly for any Phase of South Beach.  (Photo from The Perfect Pantry.  You can find more slow cooker recipes like this one in the category SBD Phase One.)

Another delicious Phase One recipe is this Slow Cooker Garlic Pork Roast by From Scratch to Plate, which only has two ingredients!   (Photo by From Scratch to Plate.  You can find more slow cooker recipes like this one in the category Five Ingredients or Less.)

  1. Congrats chica! That's awesome!!

  2. Thank you so much for featuring two of my recipes! I can't begin to tell you how much I've learned about slow cooker cooking from Slow Cooker from Scratch, and how many of the recipes inspire me to be more adventurous with my own cooking. For years I avoided slow cookers, because so many of the recipes I found contained canned soup or other not-from-scratch ingredients. Now I'm a confirmed slow cooker cook, and your site is an invaluable source of new ideas. Congratulations on a wonderful year!

  3. Thanks Joanne and Lydia.

And Lydia, so many of my favorites are your recipes. You are so creative in using the slow cooker!

  4. Congratulations Kalyn! This is such a nice resource for slow cooker recipes - I've been using my slow cooker more, inspired by Lydia and your blog.

  5. I want to compliment you on your site. So many varied and delicious recipes. You have taken crock pot cooking up a notch. It has often had the reputation of opening cans and dumping them together, these recipes are so much more that that- healthy, diverse ethnically, just plain great. I think my fave was the Phillipino boneless chicken thighs. Many thanks. Mary

  6. Thanks Jeanette! And I think we can both agree that Lydia is a slow cooker master!

  7. Mary, thanks for that nice feedback! (And we must have been writing at the same time!)

  8. Goodness I have been using many of your recipes for a few months now, had no idea there was a slow cooker site! Congrats on your year and thanks for highlighting it so I can discover it!

  9. Timmi, hope you have fun exploring the slow cooker site!
