South Beach Diet Phase One Low-Glycemic Recipes Round-Up for December 2013, and Happy New Year Everyone!

Kalyn's Favorite Phase One Recipes from December 2013 were Turkey and White Bean Chili with Chocolate, Slow Cooker Southwestern Beef Stew with Tomatoes, Olives, and Chiles, Slow Cooker Frittata with Broccoli, Swiss, Cottage Cheese, and Parmesan, and Easy Shrimp Cocktail with Creamy Sriracha Cocktail Sauce.

I start every month by posting a round-up of the South Beach Diet Phase One Low-Glycemic Recipes from Kalyn's Kitchen and other blogs for the previous month, but there's something special about that post when it falls on the first day of a brand new year.  I love the way the new year is full of possibilities, and for many of us that means a chance to begin or resume a healthier way of eating.  My goal with these round-ups is to prove there's plenty of knock-your-socks-off delicious food to enjoy, even when you're limiting carbs or trying to choose low-glycemic foods.  And I can tell from my blog stats that a lot of people have already started on a healthier eating path, so I hope these recipe suggestions are useful for you.  Happy New Year everyone; I hope 2014 will be a delicious and healthy year for you.

If you're looking for healthy recipes ideas to get you started on the right track for, there's a lot of Phase One action going on around here.  Yesterday I shared my picks for Ten Favorite Phase One Recipes from Other Bloggers for 2013.  If you want to see all the Phase One choices on the blog, check out the Phase One Recipes Index or the archives of the Phase One Monthly Recipe Round-Ups.  I've focused on low-carb and Phase One recipes every January on my blog for quite a few years now, and again this year I'll be posting Daily Phase One Recipes for the month of January, just like I did in 2012 and 2013.

December isn't a month when bloggers are posting their healthiest recipes (ahem!), but even with the cookie craze in full swing, there were still some fun healthy offerings in this round-up.  And of course every month I find things that can be made Phase One with minor changes, so those are noted after the recipe links.  (If you're a food blogger who's posted something that might be a new idea for Phase One, see after the recipe links for how to submit it.)

Did I Miss Your Phase One Recipe?
Phase one menus for the South Beach Diet focus on lean meats, seafood, eggs, dried beans, soy products, low-fat dairy products, nuts and seeds, and most vegetables. Phase one doesn't permit fruit, alcohol, bread, rice, pasta, potatoes, sugar, or any foods high in saturated fat. Obviously I miss lots of phase one recipes, so if you're a food blogger who posted a recipe this month that you think would be approved for phase one, please feel free to e-mail me the link at kalynskitchen (at) comcast (dot) net. I'll take a look, and if the recipe is phase-one friendly, I'll add it to next months roundup.  (Since I've been doing these Round-ups since March 2008, occasionally I may decline a recipe if the same thing has been featured several times already.  Please don't leave recipe links in the comments. They will not be published.)
