|Better-Than-Mom's Stovetop Goulash with Macaroni, Tomatoes, and Ground Beef is one of my favorite cold weather comfort foods!|
This has been the strangest winter I can remember, with below zero temperatures and huge piles of snow on the east coast while in Utah we've been having temperatures in the 60s for weeks now. So for about a month now I've been feeling bad for my friends who are buried in snow, (especially my good friend Lydia, who was moving from Rhode Island to Boston right during Boston's Winter from Hell; luckily the movers she hired could handle the storm.)
Call it sympathy cravings, but even though it's warm here I've been wanting to cook cold-weather comfort food, and if it's cold where you are I think a slightly-indulgent dish like my favorite Better-Than-Mom's Stovetop Goulash with Macaroni, Tomatoes, and Ground Beef might make you feel better! What's your favorite cold-weather comfort food? Please tell us about it in the comments if you have a great recipe that can help us forget about the cold.
Now here are a few more things I'm thinking about . . .
Even though the actual broadcast can be kind of a yawner, I love the pageantry that surrounds the Oscars, especially the dresses! At Jezebel they shared a graphic that shows the dresses of every best actress winner since 1929. Very fun!
But why no oscar category for the men and whomen who do stunts in movies? (I found out about this from my friend Kelley, whose husband is a stunt actor, and I agree these people should be recognized.)
Are you following Kalyn's Kitchen on Pinterest? My mind was officially blown when I recently passed 150,000 followers on there. I know there are lots of bloggers with far more followers than that, but for a Pinterest account that's focused on healthy food (no candy-stuffed cookies in sight!), I think that number is amazing. Thanks to all the faithful readers who've been pinning with me there! (And if you haven't gotten addicted to this social-sharing and saving-for-later site yet, come and join the fun.)
Now I'm making a vow to keep up better on Instagram, because so many of my blogging friends and relatives are sharing there. So if you'd like to see more behind-the-scenes of this blog (and a bit of my life as well) you can follow me there. (And if you cook something from this site and share on Instagram or Twitter, please use the hashtag #kalynskitchen; I'd love to see your pics!)

There's good advice in this post from BlogHer.com about 10 Foolproof Good Habits for People with No Willpower.

And finally, I love, love, love this chart that shows 36 World Cuisines and The 3 Main Flavors of Each.
That's all for this time, but you can use the label Things I'm Thinking About to see more round-ups of Tuesday thoughts like this one. What have you been thinking about this week? If you saw something fun or inspiring, please share in the comments.
