Let’s start out this collection of things I’ve been thinking about with an exciting adventure for my niece Alyson, her husband Nick, and their charming and adorable 18 month old son Judd. It began when Alyson entered an online contest and won tickets to the White House Easter Egg Roll. Nick and Aly decided they couldn’t pass up the trip even though they’re in the middle of a big house remodeling project, so off they went to roll Easter Eggs, along with many thousands of other people.

At the event they were lucky enough to be one of 12 couples who got to be in the photo-opportunity of a lifetime and meet the Obamas! Their exciting day at the White House time was even covered on to the local news if you want to watch the video. (And even in a family that’s split between die-hard Democrats and die-hard Republicans, everyone agrees that meeting the president and first lady is definitely a big deal!)

Now here are more things I’ve been thinking about . . .

I loved this video of 20 Italian Hand Gestures featuring Dolce&Gabbana male models from Mental Floss.

I have a new collection of fresh herbs growing in my windowsill, so I’m realizing I need to use the frozen basil and frozen pesto that’s hanging out in the freezer from last summer. I’m thinking maybe Turkey Pesto Meatloaf, Baked Chicken Stuffed with Pesto and Cheese (shown above), or Foil-Baked Salmon with Pesto and Tomatoes might be a good way to use some of that freezer bounty!I’m intrigued by this post on How to Grown an Endless Supply of Ginger Indoors from Craftsy.

I’m a little Pinterest Obsessed, so I loved seeing The Pinterest Headquarters in a story in Business Insider. (Are you following Kalyn’s Kitchen on Pinterest? There’s a lot of good food being pinned.)

And I cracked up at 32 Photos that will give you Elementary School Flashbacks from Buzzfeed.

I’m drooling over this Roasted Asparagus Salad with Crispy Proscuitto and Egg from TasteFood.

From Mashable, here are 8 Food Studies That Have Completely Reversed Themselves. It’s hard to know what to believe, isn’t it?

And finally, don’t miss reading Seven Cultural Concepts We Don’t Have in the U.S., found at Mother Nature Network. Fascinating!

That’s all for this time, but you can use the label Things I’m Thinking About to see more round-ups of Tuesday thoughts like this one. What have you been thinking about this week? If you saw something fun or inspiring, please share in the comments.
