This morning Kalyn's Kitchen got updated with a new responsive design, and everyone who uses their phone at the grocery store or in the kitchen is going to love it! And repeat after me, change is good!
For a few months now I have been working with the amazing Jennette to get my site switched over to a responsive design that would change to the size of the screen you were seeing it on. It wasn't simple because we wanted to keep the features that were added with the last re-design while making the site easier to use on a phone. On desktop view and tablet view we just made a few tweaks to make things easier to read, but on mobile view the site is all in one column now.
I'm thrilled with how the new design turned out, thanks Jennette! And forgive the bad photos in this post (which are screenshots from my iPhone) but below are a few new mobile features you might like.
On the mobile site, the search bar is huge! Even on a small phone it's really easy to search by ingredient or recipe to find what you want.
If you choose MENU on the mobile site you'll get a drop-down list with the options that are in the tabs on the desktop site (and there are a few more that I didn't capture in this screenshot).
If you click into one of those menu options you can easily access the Visual Recipe Index that some people like so much. The page you see here is the categories for Recipes by Diet Type, and there are even more Visual Recipe Index categories under Recipes by Photo.
And if you click into one of those recipes-by-diet-type categories you'll see thumbnail photos of all the recipes from that category, newest first. This one is Low-Carb.
Please let me know how you like the new responsive design! For mobile users, I think the new site is going to be much easier to use in every way. Of course there are always issues with a design change on a big site like this, so if you notice anything, please leave a comment on this post or contact me we'll try to fix it.
